Missions
Brooks Cone is a missionary to Bosnia-Hercegovina. It all started as a short 3 month trip with some other missionaries to open up a Little League Baseball Team. That has since turned into a 5 year journey to win the hearts of the young people to Christ. Brooks fell in love with the country and the people. When the other couple left, he felt the Lords voice telling him that he was to stay and open up a sports club for the inner city kids so that they would have a place to play and participate in organized sporting events.
The result was Sportski Klub Mostar. Brooks loans out all different kinds of sports equipment including roller blades, skate boards, balls, ect to the kids so that they will have something to play with. The war hasn't left much in the way of things to do for the kids so Brooks organizes sports days where he can get all the kids together to play soccer or floor hockey to keep them away from other diversions that aren’t healthy. He also has planned excursions that will allow a number of kids to go outside the city and into the country to do more extreme sports like river rafting, hiking, swimming, and rock climbing. All these excursions have a bible base so the kids are learning about Christ while they are enjoying the great outdoors.
Twice a week, Brooks, has a bible study group for both the older teens called "Preokret" which means "turn around" and another one for the young kids, ages 6 to 12, called "Preokret juniors". Then during the middle of the week he gets together with the older youth up to age 26 to have a worship session. During these times they worship with their whole hearts to our God and Savior. |

Our hearts are stirred with a passion to serve God as missionaries to Romania. We are awed and become broken when we consider the generation of young Romanians HE has called us to reach. They live in the sewers, train stations, and abandoned buildings. After being raised in state institutions, they have survived unimaginable conditions and abuse. Now they are addicted to drugs and vulnerable to human trafficking.
Only God who is able to do all things will mend these amazing lives. He will triumph and lift them up so that one day we will not see the homeless living in the tunnels, the drug addict panhandling in the subway, or the prostitute walking the cold streets. Instead, we will see a generation of history makers, living for God and empowered to reach their full potential.
Please visit www.romaniastreetkids.com to read articles, look at photos, and watch videos. We urge you to get involved by praying, sending us an email or - if God has provided - through giving. Today the needs (their needs) are great.
Bless you,
John, Sommer, and Sarah Lewis
