From the Desk of Father Tom (Husband, Father, Friend, and Rector)
Welcome to this branch of the ministry of the Church of the Messiah.
We are a growing Christian congregation in a growing part of Central Florida. We understand our purpose and call to be a parish family: loving God, loving our neighbors, and loving one another.
Here's what that means to us:
We are "a parish family." We are not a business, not a theater, not a concert hall, or wedding chapel, social services agency, television ministry, or mega-church. We are a family, with all that suggests: babies, children, teenagers, young adults, single people, married couples, and older folks. We work at many different jobs in our community, and bring home a wide range of incomes. We come from different backgrounds and countries and regions of the United States. But we are family - laughing together when things are fine, and crying together and sticking with one another when times are hard.
"Loving God." Our primary call in life - the reason we exist - is to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. We do that in worship together, alone in our homes, and everywhere in between. We are deeply Biblical in our beliefs, richly sacramental in our worship as an Episcopal Church, and joyously Spirit-filled as we seek to know God in all his glory.
"Loving our Neighbors." God created us to love and serve him AND our fellow human beings. We try to do both with equal energy.
"Loving One Another." God has graciously put us together as this parish family. We have the glorious honor of sharing life together and "bearing one another's burdens." In this world of families separated by hundreds or thousands of miles, or broken by divorce or death, God has formed a magnificent extended family in the Church of the Messiah.
